Speakers: Wanda Nanabush, AGO Curator of Indigenous Art & Dr. Duke Redbird, Elder, Activist,Educator, and Artist

The third session in this series explores Anishinaabe philosophy and land. Participants will learn about Indigenous issues through art in the AGO collection and how Indigenous artists are influencing the present and past ways of looking and being on the land. By acknowledging the continuing impact of settler colonialism on Indigenous communities, we can learn about the effects of colonization and notions of decolonization in a museum and beyond.

  • Anti-Semitism Awareness Seminar

Speaker: Dara Solomon, Executive Director of the Ontario Jewish Archives and the Toronto Holocaust Museum with Stephan Jost, AGO Director & CEO. Introduced by Oliver Weisdorf, People Division

With a successful history of working in art museums and heritage institutions in Canada and the US, Dara is a storyteller, strategic administrator, fundraiser, and team builder. She is currently leading the team developing the new Toronto Holocaust Museum. The Toronto Holocaust Museum is set to open in spring 2023 and the beginning of this webinar focuses on that. Near the end of the presentation, in the helpful Q& A, Director Stephan Jost brings the conversation back to the AGO.
