Hello Everyone,

 

• Brian Jungen: Friendship Centre looks amazing. It is the definition of cool. Next week we have two big openings: the Curators’ Circle event on Tuesday evening and the public opening and artist’s talk on Wednesday. Please take time to visit the show – in addition to sculptures made out of Nike sneakers it also features a colourful basketball court.

 

• On Monday and Tuesday I was in Ottawa attending the Canadian Art Museum Directors Organization’s annual meeting in Ottawa. Earlier this year, CAMDO came together collectively to successfully support the legal challenge regarding CCPERB. It was one of the first times that CAMDO undertook such a joint effort and this group will look at other ways the museum community can work together in the future.

 

• Raptors – they did it!! There will be a celebration parade on Monday. Please feel free to show your spirit and wear your Raptors gear on Monday and if you are able during the lunch hour (noon or so), check out the parade as it makes its way up University Avenue. We the North! (Yes, as a Permanent Resident I feel like a proud Canadian!)
