Weekly Message from Our Director and CEO, Stephan Jost

Hello Everyone,

  • BOOM! Our announcement regarding the new Access Model is BIG news that has been received in an overwhelmingly positive way by AGO members, the media and public. I’d like to acknowledge the leadership of Alicia Vandermeer, Deputy Director and Chief Advancement Officer. Alicia wove the initiative into the fabric of our organization, got it past the AGO Board of Trustees, applied thoughtful and measured analysis, and brought it to the finish line – the process was not done fast but it was done right. Thank you to Alicia and the entire Advancement team for your planning and successful roll-out this week. Now we can all look forward to AGO All Hours and the official launch on May 25th. In the last 24 hours nearly 1,000 annual passes have been sold and close to 1,000 people have signed up for the 25 and under pass. (Yes, the Contact Centre has been busy!):

  • Yesterday, approximately 150 grade 9 TDSB students visited the AGO as part of NAC10 Learning Day, the last one of the school year. Students enjoyed tours and workshops led by local First Nations, Inuit and Métis artists in conjunction with Public Programming & Learning staff. I love it when the galleries are full of teenagers. This is often when many young people are introduced to the museum for the first time in their lives.

  • There is a posting on Dartboard regarding Mental Health Week that includes strategies to support mental well-being and available resources such as the Employee Assistance Program (Lifeworks). Many of us struggle with mental health challenges and it is important to know where to turn for assistance. If you have any questions, please contact Vijay Patel, Manager, Safety & Wellness. And take time to look after your mental and physical health.

Enjoy the weekend,

Stephan
