Message from Our Director and CEO, Stephan Jost

Hello Everyone,

  • Impressionism in the AGO Industry: Monet, Pissarro and More opens to our public next week! Employees and volunteers are invited to preview the exhibition before the public sees it. Sign up for a session on Dartboard.

  • I was in Ottawa yesterday attending the Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board interveners’ hearing at the Federal Court of Appeal and heard arguments to make sure laws protect Canadian cultural heritage through export licenses and tax incentives. There has been a fair amount of press coverage of this topic in recent weeks. The issue has a direct impact on people’s ability to give great art to the AGO, and it was very interesting to be in court for the right reasons.

  • Please be sure to look at the posting on Dartboard about the Canada Council for the Arts’ Collecting Demographic Data survey. All AGO employees are invited the complete the survey to help Canada Council better understand the cultural workforce of our country. Your responses are completely anonymous and confidential. More information about the survey is available on Dartboard. I encourage all employees to take 10 minutes and complete it.

  • At next week’s Town Hall, I will talk about key operational priorities for 2019/20. Before Town Hall from 12-2pm, AGO photographers will be in Baillie Court to take new photos of employees and volunteers. As you heard from Lisa Clements earlier today, everyone will be getting new security lanyards and badges. And also from Lisa – don’t forget to update your electronic signature!

(Holly’s note:  Volunteers, we’ll be hosting additional day/evening and weekend opportunities for volunteers to have their photos taken in the volunteer lounge. We’ll share more details as they become available).

Enjoy the weekend,

Stephan
