Weekly Message from Our Director and CEO, Stephan Jost

Hello Everyone,

  • This week, we launched Mickalene Thomas: Femmes Noires. The art is incredible and the installation looks amazing. So does the catalogue. We had two very successful opening events on Tuesday and Wednesday (Curators’ Circle and a public talk). Thank you to curator Julie Crooks and the many people involved with the exhibit.

  • The Board of Trustees met on Wednesday. It was a robust agenda and positive discussion about strategies we are moving forward, including those related to our 10-year vision that I shared at Town Hall last month.

  • A big shout out to the Advancement team and everyone involved with the Kusama crowdfunding. I couldn’t be more pleased with how things are going. Nearly 4,000 people have made gifts, which is a very strong signal of support from our community.

  • Congrats also to the Marketing team for winning 3 prestigious marketing awards earlier this week: two awards for the Kusama exhibition thanks to our innovative partnership with the TTC; and one for Guillermo Del Torro because of our unique strategy to reach comic/sci-fi fantasy enthusiasts. The AGO is often recognized for its leadership in different areas of museum activity, which makes me very proud.

Enjoy the weekend,

Stephan
