Weekly Message from Our Director and CEO, Stephan Jost

Hello Everyone,

  • The exhibition Ethiopian Art 1400-1800 is opening tomorrow in the Carol Tanenbaum Gallery on the main floor. The objects on view are incredibly inventive in their depictions and the colours, style and shapes of the various objects are tantalizing and peak my curiosity endlessly. Obviously some staff are deeply knowledgeable about Ethiopian art and culture. Others have only a bit of knowledge. Do take a moment and see the exhibition.

  • If you haven’t done so already, please review the new Fit for Duty Policy that was shared earlier this week. The main take-away is that the AGO is committed to keeping our workplace healthy and safe. Yes, this is linked to the new cannabis legislation. It is your responsibility to know what the AGO policies are.

  • Glenn Lowry, former director of the AGO and current director of the Museum of Modern Art in NYC, visited us yesterday afternoon while in Toronto for an engagement. It is always good to welcome Glenn back! He loves the AGO and was thrilled to see the many changes.

Enjoy the weekend,

Stephan
