The second Friday of every month, one of P&D’s knowledgeable volunteers will give a talk that explores an area of the AGO’s P&D Collection.

George Hunter, Dofasco and Stelco steel mills, Hamilton, Ontario, 1954. Gift of George Hunter, R.C.A, 2010.
George WHO? This month’s Prints & Drawings talk will focus on photographs by George Hunter (1921–2013), perhaps Canada’s most viewed (his images have appeared on Canadian currency) but least recognized name in photography. A documentary photographer who spent seven decades capturing industrial and natural scenes on film, Hunter’s passion and artistry shaped perceptions of ourselves and our landscapes. A fascinating complement to the upcoming Anthropocene exhibition!
(Hunter was featured as part of the AGO’s Songs of Future: Canadian Industrial Photographs exhibition in 2011 – You can find a great 2010 interview with him here.)
