Weekly Update from Our Director and CEO, Stephan Jost

Hello Everyone,

  • A big thanks to staff and volunteers for taking time out of your busy days to attend one of the IDEA Group sessions earlier this week. Thank you also to the team who organized everything, led by Audrey Hudson and Julie Crooks, and also to Georgiana Uhlyarik, Wanda Nanibush and Laura Robb for sharing their unique approach to the newly installed J.S. McLean Centre for Indigenous & Canadian Art.

  • I toured a group of trustees through the museum on Wednesday evening. It was buzzing with crowds in all directions. They were impressed by the young and very diverse audience.

  • The 4th floor installation of contemporary works is progressing well. Also, I’m enjoying the recent installation of European sculpture on the main floor, including the Bernini. It is good to see more sculpture throughout the museum, including Inuit works on the second floor too.

  • Next week, I will be away on vacation – I’m going on a road trip with my daughter to spend some time on a small island off the coast of Maine with no electricity, running water or WiFi!  I hope others who are away on vacation in August enjoy the break and come back to work feeling refreshed. I will see you all on August 13.

Enjoy the long weekend,

Stephan
