Weekly Message from Our Director & CEO, Stephan Jost

Hello Everyone,

  • The Midwesterner in me (I was raised in mid-Michigan) loved spending time in the Prairies earlier this week with the open skies. I visited the MacKenzie Art Gallery in Regina and the new Remai Modern in Saskatoon. In both cases I was impressed by the size and scope of the museums.

  • The Tunirrusiangit catalogue is beautifully produced. Thank you to everyone involved with the publication. We are all excited about the opening next week. The public event on Wednesday will include a reception, Inuit vendors, an opportunity to see the show as well as the culturally appropriate sharing of seal, which is a tradition at Inuit gatherings.

  • Next week, all staff will be invited to participate in the annual employment engagement survey. We have added a new question this year about ethnic background. It was suggested by Dr. Cole when she was here last month that we have a basic level of understanding of this information so we can build on what we know. This data will provide a baseline that we can track in order to better reflect the communities we serve. Thank you all for taking the time to complete the survey.

  • We all woke up this morning to a new provincial leader and government in Ontario. My job is to maintain good relations with Queen’s Park, our largest funder, which I expect to continue!

Enjoy the weekend,

Stephan
