Weekly Message from Our Director and CEO, Stephan Jost

Hello Everyone,

  • A big, massive thanks to everyone involved with AGO Massive, our annual fundraiser that raises $320,000 in support of Gallery activities. Last night, the Gallery was transformed for AGO Massive Illusion. The event was sold out and featured 8 artists’ installations, 5 DJs, interactive photo ops and more. AGO Massive plays an important role in bringing new audiences to the AGO and showcasing the creativity of local artists. Congratulations to the Development team of William Craddock and Stephanie Roy as well as their partners from across all departments who came together to make this party a success – especially F&B, LAS, VS, PSD, Digital, Communications and others. Here is a pic of me participating in the art installation A Dream of Pastures by Studio F Minus – a fun work out!
  • This week we recognized National Volunteer Week at the AGO and what better way to do this than to acknowledge Mary Henderson, a Gallery Guide who is celebrating 50 years as an AGO Volunteer. That is an extraordinary commitment! A big shout-out to Mary and other volunteers who make our museum a great place to visit and experience. Thank you for everything you do for the AGO.
  • Be sure to check out the newly installed exhibit of three small sculptures in the Elizabeth & Tony Comper Gallery. The works by Alberto Giacometti, Marino Marini and Germaine Richier are exquisite and I love the positioning of the casework in the middle of the space – it enlivens the gallery in a subtle yet elegant manner.

Finally…enjoy the sunshine!!!

Stephan

P.S.     This week I celebrated my second anniversary at the AGO. I still feel as lucky and energized as the first day I walked through the front door. This is a great place to work and you are all amazing professionals. Thank you for making my first couple of years so special. I’m excited about the years to come…
