Weekly Update from Our Director and CEO, Stephan Jost

Hello Everyone,

  • On Wednesday, I participated in NAC 10 Learning Days, a partnership program between the AGO and TDSB for students who are enrolled in the visual arts course, ‘NAC10: Expressions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Cultures’. I visited with the students and artists and participated in Rebecca Baird’s workshop using porcupine quills. Here is a pic of me and Dr. Audrey Hudson, our head of school and teacher programs.

  • More than 1800 people attended Creative Minds on Wednesday evening at Massey Hall, in addition to the live stream on CBC. The Creative Minds program puts us in a position to frame global conversations, and this year’s theme was Art and Truth.
  • Finishing touches are happening today on the Käthe Kollwitz installation in the works on paper galleries. It is deeply personal and features a significant collection of works of art donated to the AGO by local collector, Brian McCrindle. We’re grateful to Dr. McCrindle for his generosity.
  • A reminder that a celebration of life of former Director Bill Withrow will be held in Walker Court at the AGO this Sunday, April 8 at 6pm. Everyone is welcome. The memorial is generously hosted by the Withrow family. I am grateful to the Withrow family for inviting all of us.

Enjoy the weekend. Is it really spring?

Stephan
