P&D Talk for May: Harold Town – The Single Autographic Prints

The second Friday of every month, one of P&D’s knowledgeable volunteers will give a talk that explores an area of the AGO’s P&D Collection. This Month: Harold Town: The Single Autographic Prints

Harold Town, Machine of Cagliostro, single autographic print, 1957-58 (2009/277) (Photography by Ian Lefebvre)

Talk by: Erin Canning
Date: Friday, May 11
Time: 11 am (arrive at 10:30 to view works on display!)

This Friday’s Talk will look at Harold Town’s Single Autographic Prints, the body of work which, arguably, launched Town’s career. Town worked on these marvelous, utterly unique prints throughout the 1950s, during his time as member of Painters Eleven, and stopped making them after 1959. This talk will focus on this single body of work, the complex process involved in creating these prints, and why they were so important to Town’s life and career.

Please note: Attendance at P&D talks can reach full capacity in the Study Centre. Volunteers, please keep in mind that seating is given to our visitors first.
