Weekly Message from Our Director and CEO

Hello Everyone,

  • On Tuesday, Christy Thompson showed LT members the del Toro installation – clearly, everyone involved has worked very hard. The rich design treatment combined with the incredible array of objects creates an extraordinary feast for the eyes!
  • We held the board of trustees meeting in the Marvin Gelber Print & Drawing Study Centre on Wednesday. The board welcomed three new members: Emmanuelle Gattuso, Jennifer Lee Koss, and Mazyar Mortazavi. Each bring highly desirable skill sets in communications, business, and property development, which will help advance the work of the board. At the meeting, we discussed how the AGO can better reflect the demographics of Toronto.
  • A reminder to everyone about Bev Carret’s retirement party today at 3pm in WFLC Seminar Room #1. Like I said last week, Bev has made invaluable contributions during her 34 years at the AGO, and we all wish her well in retirement. See you there!
  • And also – Andrew Hunter’s celebration is on Monday in the South Entrance at 3:30pm. Please drop by. Thank you, Andrew, for your deep passion and commitment to Canadian art and artists. We wish you well as you explore other opportunities, and hope that you always feel welcome to visit us at the AGO.
  • Finally, I have been worried about the people of the Caribbean and the U.S. impacted by hurricanes and the people of Mexico who have suffered through two recent earthquakes. I know some of our staff have family in the area. Let’s all consider how we can lend support in our own way.

Enjoy the weekend,

Stephan
