Shortlist Announced for Aimia | AGO Photography Prize

We’re pleased to announce the four international finalists for the 2017 Aimia | AGO Photography Prize: Liz Johnson Artur (Ghana | Russia), Raymond Boisjoly (Haida Nation | Canada), Hank Willis Thomas (USA) and Taisuke Koyama (Japan). The Aimia | AGO Photography Prize is Canada’s most significant award for contemporary photography and has a total annual value of $90,000.

A jury of three experts selected the four finalists from a long list of 30 artists who each showed extraordinary potential. Led by Sophie Hackett, Curator, Photography, the jury included Ken Lum, artist and Professor and Chair of the Fine Arts Department at the University of Pennsylvania, and Eva Respini, Barbara Lee Chief Curator at the ICA/Boston.

The four finalists will present their work in a group exhibition at the AGO. Voting begins in person on September 6, 2017 and on the Prize’s website on September 13, 2017.
