Weekly Message from our Director and CEO

Hey Everyone,

  • Have you ever wondered what happens to your email when you push “send”? When one of the million+ people visit ago.ca, did you ever think how they were routed? Earlier this week I had a glimpse of the “server room” – see pic below. This “behind-the-scenes” activity and the support of IT staff keeps us connected to the world!

  • Last night we kicked off Pride at the AGO, conceived by Public Programs and Learning and curated by the collective Blackness Yes! It was a great evening. Thank you to all staff and volunteers for creating a fun and safe atmosphere.
  • I attended two Curatorial Working Committee meetings this week – Photography and Modern & Contemporary. The quality, range and value of works coming into our collection is incredible. The collecting community is strong, and committed to playing a role in growing and refining the AGO’s collection. We will be sharing more details later – photographs valued in the millions were given to the Gallery.

  • Please take a moment to visit the As If Sand Were Stone show on the 5th floor. Kudos to everyone who put this beautiful exhibition together, including Associate Curator Adelina Vlas, Interpretive Planner Shiralee Hudson, and Project Manager Sarah Yaffe. Special shout-out to the ingenious way “Wasted Tim” is installed – see pic.

Enjoy the weekend,

Stephan
