Mary Rochon receiving her award

On May 9, six distinguished AGO volunteers were honoured with an Ontario Service Award.  Each year, cultural, community and seniors institutions are invited to nominate up to six volunteers for an award.  While the minimum requirement is length of service, the AGO Volunteer Executive Committee (VEC) makes sure to nominate people who have gone above and beyond their basic volunteer role.  The VEC is proud to announce this year’s winners, representing 6 different volunteer groups, and the number of years of service* for which they received awards (*may differ from actual years of service):

  • Ortansa Moraru (Prints & Drawings) – 5 years
  • Nancy Murray (Art Rental and Sales) – 15 years
  • Philip O’Campo (Youth) – 5 years
  • Mary Rochon (Daytime GGs) – 15 years
  • Barbara Taylor (Infoguides) – 5 years
  • Susan Tresins (Evening.Weekend GGs) – 15 years

Valerie Fairclough (GG)  received an award as well, recognizing her work at the ROM.  Outgoing Volunteer President Debbie Kennedy was on hand at the ceremony at the Sony Centre, which was attended by over 200 volunteers from institutions around the GTA.  Recipients were given pins and certificates.  Be sure to congratulate our winners when you see them around!
