The AGO will be open on Monday February 16 to celebrate Family Day!

We’re planning for lots of family visitors and we’ve got an amazing day of Jean-Michel Basquiat-themed activities lined up to get them here! Here’s what we’ve got planned:

Walker Court:  Beat box, break-dancing and hip hop performances

Gallery School:  Make your own Basquiat crown

Galleria Italia:  “Tag” art making – create your own graffiti signature

Weston Family Learning Centre:  Make your own trading cards, inspired by your favourite athletes, musicians, artists and heroes

Throughout the galleries, we’ll have stamping and collage fun activities, and big floor games – Giant X’s & O’s, hopscotch, snakes and ladders and pick-up sticks

We’re looking for volunteers to join us in two shifts:

Morning:  10:00am – 1:30pm &

Afternoon:  1:00pm – 4:30pm

Want to be part of the fun? As Family Day volunteers, you’ll help our guest instructors and artists engage families in art-making, games and activities, as well as assist with the ongoing organization and replenishment of art supplies, and providing friendly on-site support.

Holly will be collecting everyone’s availability and forwarding to the Family Day Education team, who will reach out with next steps (where to meet, etc.)  Be sure to contact Holly by Thursday February 12, so there’s time to coordinate the day’s schedule.
