AGO People’s Choice

peoples choiceLast year, our winning Bright Idea was the AGO People’s Choice, a time-limited, in-gallery project that allows visitors to choose (and post) their favourite artwork from the AGO’s collection.

The winning idea was suggested by Gallery Guide volunteer Margaret Johnston, and after much collaboration from departments across the Gallery, we’re ready to launch. AGO People’s Choice will run to the beginning of February.

How do I vote fro my favourite work?

You can vote in one of two ways:

  • Take a picture of the artwork using the red AGO People’s Choice frame cut-out found in the Fleck Gallery and post your photo on Instagram, including hashtag #AGOPeoplesChoice in the post caption. If you don’t use Instagram, you can email your selection to [email protected]
  • If you don’t have a camera, simply email the title and artist of the artwork to the same address: [email protected]
  • We ask that you vote only once, so that the vote truly reflects our visitors’ favourite works.

Will I be able to know which artwork is in the lead?

  • To see which artwork is in the lead during the contest, visit ago.net/AGOPeoplesChoice where a top 15 tally and Instagram feed of the votes will be available.
  • The top ten works will make up the AGO People’s Choice Top Ten, which will be announced in April. Winning works will be designated in the galleries by a special branded decal, and a self-guided tour handout with the names and locations of the top 10.

Thanks to everyone who has helped to make this Bright Idea a reality, especially the AGO People’s Choice committee members!
