A Message from Emergency Operations: Upcoming Fire Drill and Change in Designated Meeting Area for Evacuations, Please Read and Share

Dear Colleagues,

What is happening?
• A building-wide fire drill will be held during the workday on Monday, July 15 – all building occupants are required to participate. We want to keep an element of surprise so you will not know the time of the drill in advance.
• The AGO is committed to a healthy and safe workplace environment for our staff, volunteers and visitors. It is important for everyone to know how to get out the building quickly and safely in case of a fire or other emergency.

Where do we meet during the fire drill?
• The AGO has changed the designated meeting area for staff and volunteers during fire drills and evacuations – the new official meeting place will be in the centre of Grange Park.
• Many of you have been familiar with meeting in front of 52 Division in the past, however the Fire Department and the AGO’s Emergency Planning Team agreed that Grange Park would be a more effective meeting place.
• This change is effective immediately and all fire wardens should be sure that colleagues within their coverage area are aware of this change.

Where is Grange Park?
• Grange Park is located to the south of the AGO building, right beside the Ontario College of Art and Design University (OCADU).
• If you are leaving the building via the McCaul Street staff and volunteer entrance, simply turn right/south, and walk through the OCADU area, veering right towards the park.
• If you are leaving the building via the front entrance, turn left/west and walk to Beverley Street, then left/south again to the park.

Who is my Fire Warden?
• SVR & Volunteer Lounge: Sandra Deike (primary), Barb Haddock (secondary), Oona Iverson (backup). If you don’t know where your closest emergency exit is, please check with your fire warden so that you are prepared.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at ext. 305.

Please post and share with colleagues not on e-mail.

Thank you,

Robert Porporino
