The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) is making changes to its visitor hours in December to accommodate special events and allow visitors more time to spend with art this holiday season.

 

The AGO’s Free Wednesday Nights program will be on hiatus for two evenings in December, as the Gallery will be closing on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 5 p.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 26 at 4 p.m.  

                                                                                                            

Due to popular demand for Frida & Diego: Passion, Painting & Politics, the AGO will be open on Christmas Eve from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and again on Boxing Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The AGO will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012. Visitors are also invited to visit the Gallery on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

The Dr. Mariano Elia Hands-On Centre, located in the Weston Family Learning Centre, will also celebrate the holidays with extended hours on Christmas Eve from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Closed on Christmas Day, the Centre will be open from Boxing Day through Jan. 6, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Hands-On Centre is open to all children under 5 years of age who are accompanied by an adult with proof of general admission. Access to the Centre is free for members. Kids under 5 continue to eat free at café AGO through December.

 

Normally closed on Mondays, shopAGO and shopAGOkids will make a special opening on Monday, Dec. 17 from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. It will also open on Christmas Eve from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for inspired last-minute shopping. On Dec. 19, 2012 shopAGO hosts a Men’s Holiday Shopping Day from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m, with free gift wrapping.

 

 

FRANK restaurant at the AGO will be open for brunch on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Ring in 2013 with a special New Year’s Day Brunch Buffet at FRANK, priced at $65 for adults and $20 for children under 10. Two seatings will be available at 11 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m. For reservations, please call 416-979-6688.
