Weekly Message from Our Director and CEO, Stephan Jost

Hello Everyone,

  • Today is the first day of summer. Don’t delay booking vacation days to enjoy time away from the Gallery with friends and family. I am always amazed by the range of festivals and activities that take place every summer weekend in Toronto. To those who will be celebrating at the Pride parade on Sunday, have fun.
  • Thank you to staff who worked on installing Brian Jungen’s extraordinary art works, especially the large-scale Cetology – an engineering feat. Thank you also to those involved with opening events this week including the Curators’ Circle evening on Tuesday and the public talk on Wednesday night. I am very excited to see how the exhibit will resonate with our public, especially our 21,000 new annual pass holders.
  • In the past several days we have experienced the Raptors glorious NBA Championship, the launch of Pride, National Indigenous Peoples Day (today) and the opening of Brian Jungen: Friendship Centre. It is incredible how this exhibition is perfectly aligned with all of these moments.

Enjoy the weekend,

Stephan

P.S.     Be sure to check out Brian’s exhibition catalogue, available now in shopAGO. A copy is also available in the lounge area by the E.P. Taylor Research Library & Archives, the Volunteer Lounge and also in The Dominion of Canada Staff Lounge. Great job, publishing team.
