- Make a difference
- Have fun and contribute to a diverse and growing community?
Consider Joining Our 2019-2021 Volunteer Executive
We’re Changing:
We’re moving from a departmental model (with chairs representing each volunteer placement), to a team-based structure that invites volunteers from across the program to come together once a month in working meetings to accomplish our shared goals. We’re looking to create meaningful opportunities to get involved with varying levels of commitment, to invite a broader diversity of volunteers to contribute and to make a difference.
What We’re Looking For:
- A Volunteer President.
- 6 – 8 members from across the AGO volunteer community, who enjoy collaborative and collective-decision making and working in teams.
What’s Our Mandate?
Reporting into People (formerly SVR), through the Volunteer President, the Volunteer Executive’s responsibilities are:
- To make decisions on how volunteer funds are distributed, including the Volunteer Endowment Trust, Margaret Machell Study Grant, and Bursary Trust.
- To organize events to recognize and celebrate our volunteers, including the Volunteer Annual Party and Alumni Tea.
- To create content for the Volunteer Blog.
- To stay connected to the broader volunteer community through participation in Volunteers Connect, the National Docent Society (NDS) and the Volunteer Committees of Museums (VCAM).
- To enhance the volunteer experience through volunteer recognition, awards, orientation & training.
Commitment:
- Volunteer Executive members, including the VE President, are expected to commit to a up to 2-year term.
- Attendance at regular monthly meetings (generally 2 hours per month, currently from 5 – 7 p.m., though flexible and to be decided by incoming group).
- Time commitment outside of these meetings varies, depending on priorities, but generally falls between 3 – 5 hours per month
