It’s Bell Let’s Talk Day

Did you know?

  • Mental health is a leading cause of workplace disability in Canada
  • Every year, 1 in 5 Canadians experience a mental illness or substance use disorder

Mental health is a state of well-being in which a person:

  • Understands their own abilities
  • Can cope with the normal stresses of life
  • Can work productively
  • Is able to make a contribution to their community

5 ways to help:

  1. Language matters: The words you use can make a difference
  2. Educate yourself: Stigma exists and knowing what are the facts about mental illness helps to end the stigma
  3. Be kind
  4. Listen carefully and ask how you can help
  5. Talk about mental illness and break the silence
