AGO People: Keri Ryan

Congratulations to Keri Ryan, who will be leaving the AGO in the new year to take on an extraordinary new opportunity as Curator, Learning and Interpretation at the M+ Museum in Hong Kong. Currently under construction, the M+ Museum will be one of the largest museums of modern and contemporary visual culture in the world when completed in 2020.

In this new role, Keri will be responsible for shaping the museum’s interpretation and public programs leading up to the museum’s opening and beyond. The M+ Museum will greatly benefit from Keri’s deep expertise in audience and interpretative strategies, and her new team will gain a thoughtful, strategic and compassionate leader.

Keri has had many accomplishments in the 12 years she has been with the AGO, starting as a project manager in 2006:

  • Launching the Grange Prize (re-named the AIMIA | AGO Photography Prize)
  • Project manager for the opening of the contemporary tower in 2008
  • Leading the Basquiat Advisory Group
  • Strengthening and growing our visitor research capabilities
  • Partnering with artist Alex Mayhew on ReBlink, winning a Gold Muse award in the process

In her current role as Acting Head, Public Programming & Learning, Keri has led the PP&L team in the past year with great success – most recently introducing a seasonal approach to programming – demonstrating a deep commitment to the AGO’s mission and vision with grace and good humour during an incredibly busy year.

Keri will be at the AGO through to the end of January, exact timing still to come.

Please congratulate Keri on this exciting new adventure. Stay tuned for details about a farewell celebration in the new year.
