*NEW* Fitness for Duty Policy and Guidelines

What is happening?

  • Canada’s new law legalizing cannabis goes into effect on Wednesday, October 17 and adults 19 years of age or older will be able to purchase and possess up to 30 grams (approx. one ounce) of dried cannabis through a provincially authorized retailer.

What does this mean for AGO staff, volunteers and interns?

  • While on duty staff, volunteers, interns and other people in the AGO community are not to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • The AGO has zero tolerance for impairment from consumption of drugs or alcohol or other causes while on duty.
  • AGO staff, volunteers, interns and others in the AGO community are required to report for duty in a condition of physical and mental fitness such that they’re able to perform all duties required for their roles safely, competently and professionally.
  • The Fitness for Duty policy and guidelines were developed to establish and communicate the AGO’s expectations to all staff, volunteers, interns and other people in the AGO community.
