Sustainability and the AGO – New Water Bottle Filling Station in caféAGO

In an effort to be more environmentally friendly, the Food & Beverage team is taking steps to eliminate plastic water bottles and straws this month.

The project began as a pilot project on June 26. As of July 10, caféAGO will no longer sell plastic water bottles or provide unlimited plastic straws. A new water bottle filling station has been installed in caféAGO, and visitors, members, staff and volunteers are encouraged to use the station to fill a glass – or their own container – instead.

This initiative will save an average of 7,100 water bottles – 23 empty plastic bottles equal one pound of plastic – reducing 308 pounds of plastic per year!

Other green initiatives that the AGO has initiated include Light Shedding (automatic light shutdowns), a major transition to LED lights in the galleries, eco-friendly cleaning products and more. For further information, contact Mike Peroff, ext. 381.
