Update on OCAD University and Art Gallery of Ontario joint project exploration

In April, we announced that OCAD University (OCAD U) and the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) agreed to engage in two phases of due diligence to explore the feasibility of creating new shared space that would support our missions to serve our communities.  We agreed upon a deadline of June for completion of this work.

Our organizations carefully reviewed the possibilities over the last two months and have determined not to proceed with a joint development at this time.

OCAD U is proceeding with its already launched Creative City Campus.  The AGO looks forward to collaborating with OCAD U as a key stakeholder and community partner as OCAD U realizes its project.

The AGO and OCAD U have been neighbours for close to 100 years and both institutions are key anchors in Toronto’s creative district. We look forward to continuing our close relationship and ongoing partnership initiatives.

We sincerely thank the Board leadership of both organizations as well as our senior management teams who collaborated on the review.

Sincerely,

Stephan Jost
