Volunteer Alumnae Enjoy Tea and Talk

On May 16 nearly two dozen “retired” AGO volunteers gathered for their annual get-together.  After light refreshments and socializing the volunteer alums were treated to a custom presentation of items from the archives, organized by the Library staff.

Archivist Marilyn Nazar introduced several tables of photos, albums, news clippings and other ephemera dating back to the early years of volunteering at the AGO.  Items included pictures of the Women’s Committee from the 1940s and 50s, fashion shows and groovy “happenings” from the 1960s,  Grange-inspired recipes, Grange photos of costumed staff from the 1980s and 90s, and more.

Several attendees where delighted to find “archival” pictures of themselves! Marilyn also brought out background photos and notes for several artworks.  It was an enjoyable morning with staff and volunteers connecting and  reconnecting with familiar faces.

Many thanks to Alumni Chair Michelle Abrams for organizing, to VEC members Marthe Yolleck and Susan Morrison for assisting, to Library staff Amy Furness (Lead Archivist and Library Head) and Marilyn Nazar, and to SVR Coordinator Holly Procktor for managing the refreshments.
