Ontario Volunteer Service Award Winner Profile: Jeanette Pikul

Seven exceptional AGO volunteers received awards last month for their service.  This week we learn a bit more about  Jeanette Pikul, Library & Archives (20 year award).

Jeanette receives her 20 year award from MPP Han Dong

How did you get started at the AGO?
Soon after I retired, my sister-in-law gave me the AGO advert for volunteers for the 1998 Courtauld Exhibit from the paper saying “Thought you might be interested in this.” I ended up in the Gift Shop helping the designer…such fun!
What other roles have you played here?
When renovations began in 2005 I went to Library & Archives…beautiful books, interesting archival articles, great fellow volunteers and the best AGO Staff to work for.
What did you do before joining the AGO?
As a retired Emergency/Trauma RN this was a dramatic change and I discovered how much Art really meant to me. Now trips are planned around what exhibits are where – for instance I spent two weeks in Paris last September.
What is your most satisfying moment at the gallery?
This award is just icing on an already delicious cake!
Thanks Jeanette! Stay tuned for more winners!
