AGO People – Deb O’Leary

After 22 years at the Gallery, Deb O’Leary, Director, Staff & Volunteer Resources, has decided to retire. Her last day will be Friday, March 2.

Please join us to wish her the best on Friday, March 2 in Seminar Room 1, Weston Family Learning Centre, 3-4 pm.

Deb began at the AGO in 1995 and has contributed tremendously, leading the Staff & Volunteer Resources team, serving on the Leadership Team, and working in partnership with OPSEU and Unifor, and the Volunteer Committee.

Deb has accomplished a great deal during her time here. A few highlights include:

  • Developing the AGO’s human resources capabilities, elevating the profile of the SVR department and building partnerships with colleagues across the AGO.
  • Working closely with the volunteer community to build alignment and integration, and support the important work of the AGO.
  • Building strong partnerships with leadership, managers and all staff to create a collaborative work environment and support organizational effectiveness.
  • Overseeing the effective delivery of the human resources function during key periods of change, including Transformation AGO.
  • Leading successful labour management relations over two decades, and maintaining and promoting positive employee relations.
  • Advocating strongly for health and safety, achieving full certification under the Occupational Health & Safety Act and serving as co-chair of the AGO Joint Health & Safety Committee for many years.

Above all, Deb provided a warm and compassionate approach, always interested in the individual’s perspective and the human impact of AGO activities.
