Sad News – Pat Ward

Dear Volunteers,

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Pat Ward,  Friday Gallery Guide, (former Grange and Information Guide) beloved by us all, has passed away. We were told this morning, by Pat’s sister.

She passed away on Monday January 29th, with her family by her side, in Peterborough, Ontario.

As many of you know, Pat caught the flu over the holidays. This in turn, turned into pneumonia. She passed away in her 64th year.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church, 99 Brock Street, Peterborough, date and time to be arranged.

The family noted that donations to the Peterborough Warming Room would be appreciated and may be made at https://warmingroom.ca/donate/

The Volunteer Executive will be sending condolences, on behalf of the entire volunteer community.

We all loved Pat – she was always in a good mood,  she absolutely loved the AGO, and particularly her (latest) role here as a Gallery Guide. We fondly remember long talks in the volunteer lounge, (as Pat’s shift was really a very full day spent at the Gallery!), Pat’s blazing red hair, her coordinated accessories, her general quirkiness and eccentricities. We will miss her singular presence, her laughter, her spirit, and her company most of all.  It is a sad afternoon for us, and we are sorry to be the bearers of this unhappy news.
