The AGO is preparing for the upcoming exhibition Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors, which opens in March 2018. This exhibition is nothing like we’ve ever installed before.
We are asking staff and volunteers for donations of unwanted furniture and other household items that you are looking to get rid of to populate one of the rooms in the exhibition – the Obliteration Room, an all-white domestic environment that will be transformed as visitors place colourful polka dot stickers throughout the space.
All donated items must be made of hard surface materials such as plastic, wood, paper or metal – no glass please. These items will not be returned. We are asking for the following:
- Furniture – Floor lamps, pendant lamps, hat stand, an upright piano, rocking chair, Muskoka chairs, other furniture as approved by Sarah Yaffe
- Tableware (plastic, wood or metal only) – dishes, cups, cutlery – no glass
- A bowl of artificial fruit
- Hats, books, picture frames
- Vases and various objet d’art, knick knacks
- Bicycle
- Artificial plants and climbing ivy
- A small portable firepit
- A stepladder
Donations can be dropped off as follows:
Monday, November 20 – Friday, November 24, 10 am – 8 pm
at the AGO Shipping Dock (OCAD/AGO shared parking lot). Please ask the Security Officer posted there where to place the items.
