The deadline for applications for this year’s Margaret Machell Study Grant is coming up quickly! Now’s your opportunity to get a little support to pursue a course or experience that will enhance your volunteer work at the AGO! See Holly’s post from October 6 for more details.
One of last year’s winners, Denise Desouza talks about how the grant helped her:
I was awarded the grant to complete a Volunteer Management Leadership Certificate, which I obtained in April 2017 from Humber College.
As a Wednesday night Info Guide, I have the privilege of meeting and greeting our guests as they enter the gallery and begin their visits. Furthermore, I have been honored to represent the Wednesday night Info Guides as their Shift Captain. Completing the readings for these courses and the hands on assignments provided me with a much better understanding of how Volunteers contribute to the AGO strategic plan, the importance of volunteer engagement and recognition as well as a better understanding of the volunteer management cycle and how it is applied at the AGO. This has altered my approach with the Wednesday night Info Guide crew by ensuring I am serving them so they can serve guests.
Congrats to Denise for her achievement!
Applications for 2017 are due October 30 – think about what it could do for you!
