Weekly Update from Our Director and CEO

Hello Everyone,

  • Let’s celebrate Grange Park! Our new park officially opens tomorrow. Join the festivities between noon and 4pm for refreshments, performances, art-making, face painting, dog portraits…and more.  If you can’t make it out tomorrow, don’t worry – we’ve planned a special staff & volunteer casual celebration on Monday from 2:00 to 3:30pm. Grab a free ice pop and explore the park with your colleagues. Special thanks to Mike Mahoney and Bev Carret for a job well done. The south entrance will be open tomorrow as well – a beautiful new entrance into the park!
  • Check out Camal Pirbhai and Camille Turner’s captivating video installation from their series Wanted on the digital billboard on the north end of the Eaton Centre, overlooking Yonge-Dundas Square. Part of Every. Now. Then, the image will be on view throughout July.
  • I spent some time with the CEOs of Toronto’s “Group of 8” cultural orgs. yesterday, including the ROM, the Canadian Opera Company, Harbourfront Centre, TIFF, and the National Ballet of Canada. We are collaborating on marketing efforts, including the creation of this rough cut video, put together by staff at the AGO. A few more tweaks and it will be ready for wider release later this summer. Shout out to Mark McKay and Danny Winchester and everyone else who helped put it together.

Enjoy the weekend,

Stephan
