Can’t make it to Italy for March Break? No problem! This month P&D presents: Views of Rome
During the mid-18th Century, Rome was the intellectual centre of Europe and the destiny of the Grand Tourist. In this talk, P&D volunteer Phyllis Couzin will be looking at four drawings and two etchings all done in the 18th century by artists living and working in Rome. The artists are Panini, Piranesi, Challe, Robert, and Kobell. Challe and Robert, French artists who came to study in Rome, were students of Panini and also knew and worked with Piranesi. The works are either of Roman ruins or Renaissance structures.
Talk by: Phyllis Couzin
