A Message from Our Director and CEO – AGO Looks Forward

look-forwardHello Everyone,

Art, access and learning is at the centre of everything we do and with this in mind, the reinstallation of our collection is a top priority over the coming months. As I mentioned at the Town Hall in November, departments have been hard at work preparing for this exciting project. I have been calling this project “the reinstallation of the permanent collection” which honestly is a very dull way of describing a transformative program. So, I am pleased to announce that we will be officially launching the Look: Forward project to the public next week as we look ahead to cementing our place among the best museums in the world.

Look: Forward will:

  • showcase exceptional art that presents the very best of our collection (great art)
  • inspire meaningful and engaged experiences for our visitors (facilitate learning)
  • ensure the collection’s relevance for our changing audiences (increase access)
  • reflect the vibrancy of our city (make us all proud)

Throughout the Look: Forward project, the Advancement Team will ensure that staff, volunteers, the public and stakeholders receive continuous updates as galleries close and re-open from now through to spring 2018. Once completed, visitors will enjoy 70,000 sq. ft. of new installations across more than 50 galleries, including public spaces that were previously without art (over 600 more works will be on view).

We all have an important role to play. Thank you to everyone working in the front-of-house and behind the scenes to make this transition as seamless as possible.

I’ll see you at the upcoming Town Hall on February 15 where I’ll provide an update and you can ask questions. In the meantime, if you have any questions about the reinstallation project please reach out to your manager for further details.

Sincerely,

Stephan
