Congratulations to Sophie Hackett and Sasha Suda who have each recently received promotions in the Curatorial Affairs division.
Sophie Hackett will become Curator, Photography. With this change, Photography will become an independent curatorial department led by Sophie. Sophie joined the AGO in 2006 as Assistant Curator, Photography and has held the position of Associate Curator, Photography since 2013. Sophie has played a key role in acquiring major bodies of work, including the Garry Winogrand, Malcolmson and Casa Susanna collections. She received her MA from the University of Chicago.
This fall Curatorial Affairs will post for an Assistant Curator, Photography, who will report to Sophie. Sophie will report to Stephanie Smith.
Sasha Suda will become Curator, European Art & R. Fraser Elliott Chair, Print & Drawing Council. In this new position, Sasha will lead the activities of both the European and Prints & Drawings departments. She will continue to chair the Print & Drawing Council and serve on the Thomson Council. Sasha joined the AGO in 2011 as Assistant Curator, European. She was promoted to Associate Curator, European in 2013, then Curator and R. Fraser Elliott Chair, Print & Drawing Council in 2015, and took on the additional role of Interim Curator of European Art in April 2016. She holds a PhD from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University.
