Grange Park Revitalization Project Update

Grange treesAs part of the Grange Park project’s tree strategy, 22 trees will be removed this week – primarily because they have come to the end of their lifespan or are diseased. The wood from these trees will be recycled.

More than 80 new trees, including oak, horse chestnut, elm, maple and beech, will be planted later in the project, with a total of 180 trees residing in Grange Park by the time the park is complete – a 50% increase to the current count. This strategy will ensure that Grange Park will have mature and healthy trees for everyone to enjoy for generations to come.

A reminder that Grange Park is now a construction zone and closed to the public. There is no access through the park to get to Grange Road, John Street or Beverley Street.

We have committed to keeping a portion of park space available to the public throughout the project. Until the end of May, an area of the grove on the west side of the park is open and accessible through temporary entrances from Beverley Street.

We’re getting started! Great things ahead! For more information about the Grange Park revitalization project, please visit: www.grangeparktoronto.ca
