Artful Conversation for June – Kurelek: Whatever is he doing here?

youth

This month, Artful Conversation explores the works of William Kurelek. The talk will begin by considering a few Varley and Macdonald pieces as representative of the massive Group of Seven collection Ken Thomson gave the AGO, then will figure out what Kurelek is doing among them.  Works  to be discussed include Reminiscences of Youth (the “picture within a picture” in the intro room to Group of Seven), as well as A Prairie Tragedy (the “burnt barn” from the Kurelek Room).
