New Member Evening Animated by GGs

It was all hands on deck on July 30 as Wednesday evening GGs faced a large turnout for a new members’ event.  Invited for exclusive tours of the gallery, well over 100 new AGO members arrived en masse  for the scheduled 6 and 7 pm tours.  The event coincided with the opening gala for the Anishnaabe Before and After the Horizon exhibition, so the gallery was already crowded and hopping with activity.  Gallery Guide Coordinator Melissa Smith and Evening and Weekend Volunteer Chair Katherine Cossidente quickly organized the mass into smaller tour groups and sent them off in waves led by several of the dozen awaiting GGs.  The two regularly scheduled tours ended up being augmented with another six for the new members.  As a new venture to reach out to new members, the event was deemed a successful collaboration between Membership and Education by all involved.  The GGs enjoyed rising to the challenge.  “There was lots of action,” says Katherine.  “It made for a great evening.  We’re looking forward to more!”
