Volunteer Recognition Tea Honours Long-Time AGO Volunteers

On the afternoon of May 22, around 40 long-time AGO volunteers were celebrated at a special recognition event.   Newly redesigned commemorative pins were presented by Director and CEO Matthew Teitelbaum to volunteers who have served for over 15 years.  The group included six who have been here for 25 years, three for 30 years, and four for 35 years.  A special silver West Wind pin was given to Mary Henderson, a 45-year veteran recently featured on the blog.  Mary’s daughter Martha, Head of Membership and Sales at the ROM , was on hand as a surprise for Mary.  Staff coordinators were also present.

Recipients were delighted with the honour.   “This event was beautifully planned, ” enthused Sybil Wilkinson (35 years, currently with Volunteer Recruitment).  “I appreciated Matthew attending the entire event – he was very genuine and seemed struck by the number of long-time volunteers.”  She added that Mary’s longevity was an inspiration.  “I hope to make it to 45 years myself!”  Barb Keilhauer (20 years, currently a Daytime GG)  added,”This kind of recognition is very important and is felt strongly by each recipient.  I personally showed my pin to all my family and will proudly wear it in my lanyard.”  Congratulations to all our honourees!
