Writing on the Wall – Artworks from Art Rental on display in the Grange

AR&S has collaborated with the Grange to display a new exhibition within the Members’ Lounge, entitled Writing on the Wall.  Be sure to drop by and take a look.  Here is official description:

The written word has an important place in the history of The Grange. It is the former home of prominent historian and liberal thinker Goldwin Smith, who wrote in a controversial and compelling style for periodicals such as Canadian Monthly, The Week and his own publication, Bystander. In its current incarnation as the Members’ Lounge, The Grange continues to be a space of conversation among members, and carries the memory sense of centuries of narrative and communication. The artworks in this exhibition collectively reflect this layering of narrative, meaning and poetics of words exchanged within The Grange.

The selection reflects a diversity of styles and sensibilities and refers to a wide range of themes from the public to the personal. Some works incorporate stream-of-consciousness writing, while others reconstruct poetry or meditate on graffiti.  Artists include Agata Ostrowska, Andy Patton, Janet Kimber, Anne-Marie Cosgrove and Bratsa Bonifacho.
