A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR AND CEO
Dear Volunteers,
What’s happening?
- On Monday, we are launching the first annual volunteer engagement survey.
- This strictly confidential survey to measure volunteer satisfaction will be conducted from Monday, November 18 to Sunday, December 8, 2013 at 5pm.
- The survey will be available on-line and in hard copy and takes only 5 minutes to complete.
- The results will be shared with all volunteers in February.
Why are we doing this?
- Be the Experience is one of the key foundations of the AGO’s Strategic Plan. As you know, we want to become a more effective, results-focused organization and to engage both staff and volunteers in our success.
- Volunteers are the front-line contact with our visitors and integral to delivering incredible visitor experience.
- The volunteer engagement survey is a commitment within the Volunteer Strategic Plan and it will allow us to measure volunteers’ perception of their experience at the AGO, identify opportunities for improvement, and make informed decisions about which improvements need to be made.
- This is the same survey that staff have completed for the past two years.
How can I be sure that my survey is confidential and that I won’t be identified?
- The survey has been created to ensure that individuals cannot be identified.
- The data provided will help us to identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvements while ensuring that everyone’s responses remain anonymous.
Is the survey voluntary?
- Yes, but it is important that everyone participate so that we can get as much input as possible on how we’re doing.
Who is conducting the survey?
- We have hired The Strategic Counsel (www.thestrategiccounsel.com), a leading national public opinion and market research firm, to conduct the brief survey. The purpose of the study is to gain an insight into your views so that we have a clear understanding of opinions and needs.
- All completed surveys will be submitted directly to The Strategic Counsel. Your individual responses will not be available to anyone at the Gallery.
- A report of the findings will be prepared, but will only include analysis of the total responses, not individual ones. The Strategic Counsel has designed the survey so that individuals will not be able to be identified.
How do I participate?
- If you have access to a computer: just click on http://survey-na.researchnow.com/wix/p810903491.aspx?src=98 which will go live on Monday.
- If you don’t have access to a computer: here are the additional ways you can complete the survey:
- Online using the three computers in the Volunteer Centre.
- Hard copies (with sealed envelopes) will be available in the following locations:
- Both entrances of Staff & Volunteer Resources
- Volunteer Lounge
- You may choose to mail the sealed envelope to:
The Strategic Counsel
21 St. Clair Avenue East
Suite 1100
Toronto, ON
M4T 1L9
Attn: Nancy Gottlieb
How will we get the results?
- Survey results will be communicated at department meetings and on the Volunteer website.
Who benefits from this survey?
- You will. Engaged volunteers are fully committed and involved in their work and have a higher level of satisfaction. For the Gallery, the level of volunteer engagement is directly connected to better outcomes. An engaged volunteer community will greatly increase the likelihood of success with our Strategic Plan.
I would like to encourage each and every one of you to complete the survey over the next few weeks – your participation matters. We can’t do it without you.
With your feedback, together we’ll build a stronger AGO.
Sincerely,
Matthew
