Congratulations! AGO Education Officers Chosen as Emerging Artists in The Artist Project

Artists Project
Congratulations to Katie Hogg, AGO Education intern, and Shannon Dickie, AGO Education officer, who will be showcasing their cutting-edge work in the special exhibition The Artist Project, a juried contemporary art fair, which runs February 21 to 24 at the Better Living Centre.

Selected from hundreds of applications, Katie and Shannon are two of just 14 chosen as the country’s best up and coming artists!

Kate Hogg is an emerging Canadian whose work employs print, collage and thread in an exploration of visual sensations and optical illusions. She works from personal photographs inspired by Byzantine mosaics, and can be found furthering her practice at Open Studio’s printmaking center in Toronto, Canada.
In her oil paintings, Shannon Dickie explores society’s interactions with digital media. Through her use of blur, she not only implies the motion of the figure, but also associates the digital image with a faded memory. In 2010, she was awarded the Best Student Painter award at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition, and has been featured in September 2012 issue of Canadian House and House Magazine, and the new Visual Art high school textbook, Art Works.
