The wonderful ofrenda at the exit to Frida & Diego, built for us by an artist from Oaxaca, has really engaged our visitors. They are invited to leave little tributes, and they are responding with great warmth and emotion.
If you haven’t dropped by recently, here’s how the shrine looks now — the original, artist-created adornments are almost buried by the notes and paper flowers created and placed by visitors who loved the exhibition and want to share their reactions.
Take time to look at some of the individual messages. Each tells its own story, in just a few words…
A number of them, like this one, comment on Frida’s life and the message they have taken from that life…
Frida is often the focus of the messages, including some of the ones clustered around this angel figure…
Here’s one of the messages in that cluster (with a flower stem poking through)…
Some are in Spanish…
It’s an interesting exchange, isn’t it? Inside the exhibition, we have posted our signage for our visitors; here on the ofrenda, they have created their own signage in return — for Frida and Diego, for us, for each other, for everyone who has been touched by the show.
These are only a few of the messsages, and there are so many. Go and see for yourself!
