The Volunteer Executive Committee (VEC) is pleased to announce the recipient of this year’s Volunteer Endowment Trust (VET) grant: E.P. Taylor Library & Archives public programming.

Earlier this year, the AGO’s Development department presented the VET subcomittee (Susan Morrison, Marthe Yolleck, Catherine Morelli and Shelagh Barrington) with 6 potential recipients.  The VET subcommittee then whittled the list down to three which were then voted on by the full VEC.

Established in 2001, the VET allows Volunteers a means of advancing art-related programs including purchase of artworks, and provides recognition for the contributions of Volunteers. Approximately $50,000 is available to support a gallery program.

As part of Public Programming & Learning, the recently revamped
E.P. Taylor Library & Archives with new south entrance and lobby will offer expanded programming that will include extended public hours, strengthening relationships with local artist community, engaging youth volunteers and supporting AGO’s mission of Art, Access and Learning. Free art focused events, programs and learning experiences will be offered to a diverse population of visitors and will to include Youth Council Archive Project, Wikipedia Edit-a-Thons, Unshelved, Truth & Reconciliation Commission Report Talks and Workshops on Personal Archives.

A cheque signing ceremony on March 12 finalized the gift.  Present were Barry Appleton (Trustee, AGO Foundation Board), Stephan Jost, Shelagh (Volunteer President), VET Subcommittee Susan Morrison, Marthe Yolleck, and Catherine Morrelli, Amy Furness (Head of Library & Archives), Rosamond Ivey (Special Collections Archivist), Larry Pfaff (Library staff), Erin Prendergast  (AGO Foundation Secretary), Tavia Fedoruk (Development).

Be sure to drop by the library and take full advantage of all it has to offer!
